This postcard features a painting I entered in a plein air contest at the San Diego County Fair. I chose to paint this view of the carousel, food stand, and more traditional Del Mar building.
After 3ish hours, I called it good and enjoyed the fair while one judge chose a winner (from 20 or so paintings). Although I didn’t win a ribbon for my art, I did win a giant capybara for throwing a ping pong ball into a tiny, floating cup. After posting about my experience, the owner of Mexican Funnel Cakes saw my video and bought the original painting! Amber was so sweet and I couldn’t think of a better home for this piece.
